01 What is Mental Health?
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. Over the course of your life, if you experience mental health problems, you’re thinking, mood, and behavior could be affected. Many factors contribute to mental health problems, including: 1) Biological factors, such as genes or brain chemistry, 2) Life experiences, such as trauma or abuse, 3) Family history of mental health problems. Mental health problems are common but help is available. People with mental health problems can get better and many recover completely.
02 What is Psychiatry?
Psychiatry is the study of mental illness, emotional disturbance, and abnormal behavior. A Psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in mental health and psychiatric disorders. Psychiatrists are qualified to assess both the mental and physical aspects of psychological problems and can prescribe medicines.
People seek psychiatric help for many reasons. The issues can be sudden such as panic attacks, frightening, hallucinations, and thoughts of suicides or hearing voices. Or they may be long term, such as feelings of sadness, hopelessness or anxiousness that never seem to lift or problems functioning causing everyday life to feel distorted or out of control.
03 What is Psychology?
Psychology is related with all aspects of behaviors and with the thoughts, feelings and motivations underlying those behaviors. Psychologists study human behavior and their way of treatment is therapeutic. Psychologists do not have right to prescribe medicines but can refer patients to psychiatrists to provide pharmacological treatment.
04 What is the difference between PSYCHOLOGIST and PSYCHIATRIST?
Both psychiatrists and psychologists are typically trained to practice psychotherapy – talking with their patients about their problems. But the difference in training transforms into different approaches to solve mental health problems.
05 When does someone need mental checkups?

Yes, Mental Illness(es) are treatable now days by psychotherapy, relapse prevention and motivational interviewing. Our Institute (IBS) is the place to come if any one of your loved ones is facing issues relating to mental illness or well-being.
07Are there Daycare activities at IBS/DUHS?
IBS/DUHS is providing daycare activities including walk, exercise, yoga/aerobics, gym, in & out door games, sports, arts & craft, gardening, focus group, art/painting, career/educational group, beautician, stitching, music, computer, library, cooking, writing skill , diet plan guideline, home assignments, photography, English language, TV/movie etc. Our in-patients and out-patients are also availing these services at very minimal cost.
08 What is DRC – Drug Rehabilitation Center?
Drug detoxification is used to reduce or relieve withdrawal symptoms while helping the addicted individual to live without drugs. It does not mean to treat addictions only but rather an early step in long-term treatment. IBS has Drug Detoxification Center, manned with trained staff and equipped with modern medical facilities.

Psychiatric rehabilitation promotes recovery, full community integration and improved quality of life for our clients who have been diagnosed with any mental illness that seriously impairs their ability to lead meaningful lives. Our rehabilitation services are collaborative, person directed and individualized
10 What are the services of DRC?
Our rehabilitation activities are undertaken by rehabilitation counselors, psychiatry rehabilitation consultants/specialists, occupational therapists and community support workers seeks to effect changes in a person’s ability to deal with his/her environment, so as to enable perfection in daily life.
11Who can avail DRC services?
IBS/DUHS is providing DRC services to both inpatient & outpatient care 6 days a week, in which we perform complete detoxification and rehabilitation of drug dependent patients who are affected by substance abuse.
12 What about In-patient Department facilities at IBS?
We have 50+ beds in General Ward, Semi-private, Private and Deluxe (VIP) Rooms with provision of separate male & female clients in spacious and clean wards. IPD also covers Daycare services for clinical psychology services, recreational activities and occupational therapy services to our paid and Zakat funded clients without any discrimination.
13 Do IBS have welfare provision?
We are providing services in non-discriminate manner truly to cure non-affording patients through zakat fund as per policy of IBS. We have quota for charity funded by Zakat with complete set of services provided to our paid patients.
14 What is the purpose of Shelter Employment?
To accommodate those people who are having problems in employment, we provide exclusive employment opportunity to recovered patients of IBS on evaluation basis so that, they can start their professional life as well.
15 What are the proposed meeting timings for attendants?
Patient meeting timings for attendants are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday – 4pm to 6pm.
16Is there pick & drop facility to (nearby) daycare patients?
Monday to Saturday 09:00 am to 02:30 pm, Friday 09:00 am to 12:00 pm (we facilitate on first come first serve basis, no emergency cases are entertained at present)
